Tech FAQ

How does Sentry work?

Sentry uses a small, customized, unobtrusive program called RepelIt installed on each of your organization's computers. It is hidden from prowling malware.

Sentry watches for any change in protected areas of your computer's storage. Any suspicious change is reported to the Systems Guardian servers.

Once alerted, our staff can quarantine or assist you in removing the offending files, and correcting registry entries.

What are the system requirements?

What do I install?

When you have completed the subscription process, you will receive a confirmation with the URL for downloading the RepelIt installers.

  1. For each machine, check the system requirements shown above.
  2. Download and unzip the installer.
  3. Depending on your Windows machine, choose either the 32-bit or 64-bit installer folder.
  4. Double-click the Microsoft Installer (.msi file), which will install the customized Repelit application.
  5. Reboot.
  6. After reboot, RepelIt will notify the Server to begin Sentry Monitoring of your machine.

I think my computer got a virus. What do I do?

Systems Guardian Sentry has to be installed beforehand in order to detect any virus or malware. Since your computer may already have been infected, we can work with you to try solve the problem, at our standard service billing rates. However, once a computer is infected, repair is not always easy, nor is there any guarantee that the infection can be found and fixed.

Contact us at Whole Systems Services, (click here) with a phone number where we can reach you when you are at your computer, and we will do our best to get you back on track.

The best anti-virus/anti-malware protection has two elements:

  1. Get and maintain a good, full backup of your entire computer.
  2. Subscribe to Systems Guardian Sentry Monitoring Service.
